Most outdoor movie nights are limited by the screen — not the crowd.

Traditional outdoor movie nights rely on projectors.

That means one thing: you have to wait until it’s almost completely dark.

Families with young kids arrive early… then leave before the movie starts.

Kids get tired waiting.

Parents pack up early.

And what was meant to be a relaxed, family-friendly event quietly thins out.

The schedule isn’t set by people.

It’s set by the sun.

And the organiser carries the blame — not the projector.

You spend weeks organising the logistics.

You sort the council approvals, the site layout, the food trucks, the communication to families.

Then the night arrives. The projector washes out in the early evening light. The kids at the back can't see. Parents start folding up their

picnic blankets before the movie even begins.

And all the feedback the next day is about the screen.

Not the food. Not the music. The screen.

That reflection lands on you — because you put your name on the night.

LED screens give you back control of the night.

An LED big screen doesn't care what time the sun goes down.

At over 5,000 nits brightness, our screens are fully visible in daylight — which means you decide when the movie starts.

Not the sky.

Start at 5pm while families are fresh.

Run pre-show content, sponsor slides, or community announcements before the film.

Keep kids engaged from the moment they arrive.

Let parents actually relax instead of watching the horizon.

The screen is sized and positioned for your site — from small school ovals to large council parks. We set it up, we operate it on the night,

and we pack it down.

You're no longer waiting for darkness.

You're designing the night around families.

What a movie night looks like when the screen actually works

Three events. Three different sites. The same outcome every time — families stayed, kids watched the whole film, and the organiser

didn't have to think about the screen once.

Shell Cove Public School — P&C Movie Night

Families started arriving from 5pm. The movie started at 6pm —

well before dark — because the 26sqm LED screen was bright and

clear the moment it went on.

Pizza vans and ice cream trucks had steady queues all night.

Kids watched the full movie. Parents actually settled in.

Pre-show sponsor slides and school announcements ran cleanly

before the film. The P&C committee told us the setup felt

simple and professional — and the community feedback the

following week was the best they'd had for any event.

Campbelltown Council — Rooftop Film Event

Over two days, we screened four films across a tight rooftop

venue. The screen footprint was compact but the picture was sharp — guests praised the clarity from every part of the space.

Council appreciated the smooth bump-in and bump-out between sessions, and the clean content switches between each film.

Two days. Four films. Zero issues.

Belmore South Primary School — Students' Rewards Day

A daytime screening — 9:30am, full daylight, outdoors.

For most screens, that's impossible. For our 6sqm LED, it was

just another setup. The picture was crisp from the moment

the screen went on, through the entire session.

We brought an optional generator so the school only needed a

flat spot and a sign-off. No power runs. No site prep.

The school handled nothing on the day except enjoying it.

This is the other side of what LED screens make possible —

you're not limited to evenings anymore. Schools, daytime

community events, early afternoon sessions. If there's an

audience, there's a time that works.

Features & Benefits

Start at 9am, not 9pm

Over 5,000 nits brightness means the movie runs in early evening light. Families with young kids get the full experience — not a rushed ending before bedtime.

Clear from anywhere on the oval

Sized and positioned for your site. Whether the crowd is 100 people or 1,000, everyone gets a clear view without pushing to the front.

Kids stay. Parents relax.

A bright, engaging screen from the moment families arrive means less drifting, less restlessness, and a crowd that actually settles into the night.

Built for outdoor conditions

IP-rated and weatherproof. Parks, ovals, rooftops, school grounds — our screens handle the conditions so you don't have to plan around them.

Pre-show content included

Run sponsor slides, community announcements, or event info before the film starts. The screen is yours from bump-in to bump-out.

One team, start to finish

We set up, we operate, we pack down. You brief us once and then you run your event. Nothing gets handed back to you to manage on the night.

STILL NOT SURE?

Frequently Asked Questions

Every outdoor movie night is different. These are the questions we’re asked most often.

Can the movie really start before it’s dark?

Yes. Our LED screens run at over 5,000 nits brightness — completely readable in early evening and dusk conditions where a projector would wash out. A 6pm start is standard for most of our movie nights.

Is this suitable for families with young kids?

That's exactly who this is designed for. Earlier starts mean kids watch the whole film without falling asleep or leaving

early. Most of our bookings are school P&Cs, community groups, and councils running family-oriented events.

What size screen do we need?

It depends on your site and how many people you're expecting. We'll recommend the right size once you tell us your rough crowd number and venue layout. As a guide: · Up to ~300 people: 6sqm screen (3.2m wide) · 300–1,000+ people: larger screens available up to 26sqm We'll always recommend what's right for your crowd — not what's biggest.

Do you provide audio as well?

Yes — audio is included as standard for most movie night hire packages. If you have specific audio requirements for your site (e.g., noise restrictions, headset setups), let us know in the form and we'll work with what your event needs.

Do we need a movie screening licence?

Most public or community screenings require a public performance licence for the film being shown. This is separate to screen hire and is the organiser's responsibility to arrange. We recommend contacting Roadshow Australia — they handle community screening licences and the process is straightforward. We're happy to point you in the right direction when we chat.

What does it cost?

Movie night packages start from $1800 ex GST for a single screening. Pricing depends on screen size, location, and duration. Fill in the form above for a fast, no-obligation quote — we'll come back to you within one business day.

How far in advance do we need to book?

As early as possible. October through March is our busiest period — school end-of-year events, community summer evenings, and council events all land in this window and dates fill fast. We recommend locking in your date at least 6–12 weeks out. If your event is sooner, fill in the form and we'll tell you what's available.

What do we need to provide on the night?

Very little. We need a flat surface to position the screen, access to a 10amp or 3 three phase power circuit (depending on screen) within reach of the screen location, and a run sheet so we know your timing. If power isn't available on site, we can bring a generator as an add-on. We'll confirm all site requirements when we book in your event.

WHY LED WORKS BETTER THAN PROJECTORS

Projectors need darkness. LED screens don’t.

Projectors wash out the moment there's ambient light. That means waiting — often until 8:30 or 9pm — before the picture is watchable.

By that point, young kids are exhausted. Families with early risers have already packed up. The crowd that arrived at 6pm has halved.

LED big screens are different. Over 5,000 nits means the picture is sharp at dusk, in the early evening, and in conditions where

a projector would be invisible.

That changes everything about how the night runs:

  • Movie starts at 6pm while families are fresh

  • Young kids watch the full film without falling asleep

  • Families stay longer — which means food vans do better business

  • The atmosphere builds instead of people waiting for it to get dark

  • The night feels intentional, not like everyone's killing time

This is the difference between hoping the night works — and knowing it will from the moment the sun goes down

About us

We've run community movie nights where the screen was the best part of the night

Jum Media operates LED big screens for outdoor events across NSW, ACT, VIC, and QLD. A significant part of what we do is community movie nights — school P&Cs, council summer events, local fundraisers, and community evenings where families are the audience and the organiser has one shot to get it right.

We got into this space because we kept seeing the same problem. Organisers would hire a projector, wait for darkness, and watch their crowd thin out before the movie finished. The event worked on paper but didn't land on the night.

LED screens changed that. Earlier starts. Brighter pictures.

Kids who actually stayed for the credits. Organisers who stopped getting feedback about the screen.

We set up. We operate. We pack down. You run the event.

Across hundreds of events, we've never had a technical failure. The same P&C committees and council teams book us year after year — because when the movie night works, they stop worrying about it and start enjoying it.

That's what we're here for.
